Company History
GHCL Limited was incorporated as Gujarat Heavy Chemicals Limited on 14 the 14th October, 1983. It was incorporated as a joint-sector corporation and was supported through Gujarat Industrial Investment Corporation Limited, Dalmia Dairy Industries Limited and the other affiliates belonging to the Dalmia Group, GTC Industries Limited (formerly named Golden Tobacco Co. Ltd.) and Indian and NRI investors.
The primary goal of the company was to establish an industry-leading soda ash plant that could produce 1200 tonnes a day of soda ash in different types, including dense and light. It began production of soda ash in 1987 beginning with 4.2 lakh metric tonnes per year and then gradually increased until 5.25 million MTPA.
Gujarat Heavy Chemicals Limited entered industrial and edible salt production in the latter half of the 1990s and early 1980s. The company began its journey into the textile industry in the early 2000s. It began with a small number of spindles and later expanding to more than 140,000 spindles.
